Rebecca C.
This incubator campaign was for the TLC-50 Advance model
Rebecca lives on a greenbelt and sees a variety of wildlife each day. As a result, she began to notice animals that were struggling due to extreme temperatures, local residents, and lack of food. She planted a garden specifically for wildlife to forage from and has seen opossums and raccoons go from skinny and struggling to healthy and thriving. At one point, a neighbor had bird spikes on their fence to deter wildlife. An opossum was severely injured so Rebecca secured him in a kennel and took him to a rehabber. She became a bit obsessed with North America's only marsupial and began educating herself on their diet, habits, and other aspects of their lives. She emailed the same rehabber she surrendered the injured opossum to and asked if she could rehab with them. Rebecca says that it was the best decision she has ever made. She now passionately cares for orphaned opossums and is actively pursuing a degree as a veterinary technician. She saved an opossum and, in exchange, the opossum opened the door to endless opportunities of animal conservation, activism, and of course, joy.
