Thank you to my wife and soulmate Kim, for sharing with me her special connection to animals. That connection led me to my calling for wildlife rehabilitation. That also led me to become a Certified Animal Control Officer focusing on humane solutions. My caring wife shares the same feelings and works with me as a team. Our journey started in 2019 when an orphaned fawn needed to be rescued. Since then, we have tirelessly dedicated our lives to caring for different species of wildlife and educating the public. Education is a vital part of wildlife rehabilitation. In the photo I am holding a skunk. Skunks are beneficial critters. They are omnivorous and eat a variety of garden pests, including mice, voles, beetles, various larvae, wasps and crickets. Skunks are also scavengers. They will seek out animal carcasses, which helps keep an ecosystem free of carrion. Scavengers are important to the health of the environment. As wildlife rehabilitators we continuously work toward improving the quality of care given to wild animals undergoing rehabilitation. A portable incubator will be extremely helpful as we can move it to any room and help more animals in need. Orphaned, sick and injured wildlife didn’t choose that fate. It’s up to a select few to see the world through their helpless eyes and do what it takes to give them a second chance. Every single individual deserves that.
