I was raised on a large farm and from early childhood was taught by my parents to care for all living creatures. My love of wildlife started then, and as I got older I started caring for babies that were found on our farm and nearby farms. When I realized this was something I wanted to do I reached out to a licensed rehabber and trained under her. Caring for these babies and injured animals just seemed natural to me. Once I retired from being a public school bus assistant for handicapped children, I decided this was my calling from here on.

I recently lost my husband of many years and have found that these babies have helped me in more ways than I can name. I have a full time purpose again, and my life has meaning. There is nothing sweeter than the sound of a neonate baby sucking away on a formula bottle at 3 am. When their eyes first open and they see you it is overwhelming to know that you have saved a tiny precious life. The trust in their eyes is the most calming medicine for a widowed old lady like myself.
