As a farmer, I have cared for many different types of domesticated animals. This care of chickens, cows, horses, dogs, cats etc, included rehabilitation when they were sick or injured. I’ve cared for some wildlife I have come across but felt I wasn’t making big enough difference in the way I know humans are negatively impacting the animals’ environment. This is when I met a friend who was a licensed wildlife rehabber. Through training with her and myself becoming a rehabber, in 1 years time I have already helped 10 animal babies return to their natural habitat that would have otherwise died without intervention. This year I look forward to accepting two additional species to my list which brings me to four types I can rehabilitate. I now feel I am making a positive human impact where there was once only a negative human one.
