Caitlin has always been interested in wildlife. She graduated from North Carolina State University with a degree in Zoology then began her journey in wildlife rehabilitation at Possumwood Acres Wildlife Sanctuary as an intern. After her internship was complete, she was hired on as the volunteer coordinator and received her license to rehabilitate wildlife in her home. She began taking in injured and orphaned opossums and has continued to help rehabilitate opossums as well as several other animals while working for the sanctuary where it all started. Prior to working at Possumwood Acres, Kaitlan worked as a developmental and community therapist for children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Since moving into wildlife rehabilitation, it has become her goal not only to rehabilitate animals, but to rehabilitate people as well by bringing nature, the environment, and animals to people who would not have had the opportunity. She is currently working on bringing children with special needs to the sanctuary to let them experience wildlife -- to help bring them closer to nature, and closer to themselves.
