One night Kim found a baby white wing dove in her backyard. It wasn't quite a fledgling yet. Kim's dog likes to go outside at least twice in the middle of the night and she didn't want him to kill the bird, so she moved the baby to the other side of the fence hoping that mother was around and would hear the baby. The next day she came home from work and noticed the baby was still in the same place Kim had put him/her and the mom wasn't feeding the baby. She looked up wildlife rehabilitators in the area and found Helen with All Things Wild. When Kim brought the dove over, she mentioned that she loves animals and always wanted to work with them in some way or another, that she has a degree in biology, and felt that Helen could probably use some help. They arranged for Kim to come out Saturday mornings to clean cages, feed animals, and learn from her. As of February 2018, Kim now has her wildlife rehabilitator's permit. An incubator will help her with the many babies she'll help in the coming years.
