Ever since Hilary can remember, she has always had a passion for animals. Initially she was interested in marine biology but living in Oklahoma proved difficult to explore that field. During her senior year of college, she began volunteering at a rehabilitation center in central Oklahoma. After volunteering for a few months, she wanted to broaden her experience by applying for the summer internship program the center offered. From there, Hilary's rehabilitation career began. Her first year as an intern was, she must admit, intense. Working long days with thousands of animals from all over the state allowed her to realize how influential wildlife rehabilitation is, to not only the patients themselves, but to wildlife conservation as a whole. For two years she was a raccoon team leader and she loved every messy minute of it. Hilary is currently a rehabber at the New Mexico Wildlife Center where they admit a variety of animals from all over the state in need of care. She says that she is so grateful to be working in a field with such passionate and like-minded people.
