Patricia's mom told her she always loved birds from the first time she was able to sit on the kitchen table and stare out the window. 40 years later, serendipity landed an injured dove on her front doorstep (literally) just days after a wildlife rehabber spoke at her daughter's Girl Scout meeting. Knowing who to call, Patricia started on this fascinating and sometimes frustrating journey. Mentoring and classes plus hands on learning and lots and lots of reading later, she is still with it, now caring for up to 120 birds each year, most of them babies. As Patricia recently dealt with her own monumental health challenges, watching birds helped her get through it. She's still as fascinated with them as that little girl on top of the kitchen table had been.
