After Jan found orphaned baby squirrels twice and both times had a hard time finding rehabbers to care for the babies, she realized how great a need there is for more wildlife rehabbers. She became a sub-permittee, successfully cared for some some babies and knew she had found her calling. In her 2nd year of rehabbing, Jan takes in squirrels and will expand to helping opossums as well. As with most homecare rehabbers, her family chips in to help -- her son sets up the cages and brings formula when Jan is feeding the babies. It's so sweet to see Jan not just saving animals, but also passing on her love of wildlife to the next generation.
