Catherine S.
As a wildlife educator, Catherine has had friends and acquaintances bring her baby animals that needed rehabilitation over the years. She has had success with some and sadly a few didn't make it, but it has been a great learning experience each and every time. Last summer she was brought 4 newborn baby bunnies after their den had been destroyed. She spent 6 weeks raising them, bottle feeding them, and ultimately rewilding them. In between caring for animals in need, Catherine takes biofacts and educational materials into classrooms around the city and gets children (and adults) excited to learn more about the animals and habitats that share this planet with us. She has developed 15 different talks on various wildlife and ecology topics, such as Polar Bears and the Arctic or Scats and Tracks. These talks also include hands on activities where children learn about some of the special adaptations of animals that enable them to live in their particular habitats. As Catherine becomes even more involved with wildlife rehabilitation, she is so fortunate that a young student Josie submitted a proposal to Disney and was awarded a grant to fund this incubator. Thank you Catherine for inspiring Josie and other kids to care about wildlife.
