Kelley L.
Kelley's mom and step dad were animal lovers and they passed that love and tons of knowledge on to Kelley. When she was a teen in 1983, her step dad found an orphaned baby squirrel but, at the time, they didn’t have the resources for finding rehabbers like we do now. Kelley's step dad had raised baby squirrels previously so they decided to raise the little boy. Kelley was immediately hooked, and jumped out of bed every time her alarm went off in 2 hour spans to feed the little baby. Kelley says that it was amazing to watch him grow and mature into such a handsome little man. He was released when he was grown and lived for many years in the trees around their house. Years later, Kelley is still caring for squirrels and opossums in need. Her mom and step dad both passed away very young and she feels like she is honoring their memory by continuing to care for orphaned animals and passing the knowledge down to her own children.
