How has your first Baby Warm incubator helped you?
The consistency and reliability alone has offered me the opportunity of a few extra hours of sleep with some of the critical ones. Sometimes during baby season even an extra 10 minutes of rest can make the whole day different. The soft "hmmmm" of the fan/motor provides a white noise so some of the older babies aren't totally freaked out with every tiny noise. I cannot even begin to count how many little lives have been saved over the years. And, as I walk into my clinic every day and see my incubator I smile. I smile because I'm reminded daily that those who donated believe in me, the believe in my work, they believe in my passion.
How will this additional incubator help?
We are a small center and we each have our specialties…mine are pinkies and critically injured, which means I also have to travel to the vet frequently. Travel and pinkies are kind of like oil and water. Their needs are just to great to be able to provide consistently while flying down the highway at 80mph and spending sometimes in excess of 10 hours at the vet. I've tried using my big incubator in my car by hooking it up to a power inverter and it does work, but I'm so scared it will get hurt or bounced around one too many times so I've started leaving it at home and gone back to alternative heat sources. The alternatives cannot be trusted, can cause lifelong and life changing injuries, and can easily kill the smallest most critical ones in my care. Having a "to-go" incubator will provide the consistency of care needed by the smallest and most injured while we travel.
