Amy was living in Santa Barbara and there was an ad in the newspaper looking for help at the local seabird pond. That was long ago, when people put ads in the newspaper! Amy just wanted to expose herself to a world that was different from her work life. So she went to her house, began helping, and has been doing all she can for wildlife ever since. It's so important to Amy to help the wildlife in their struggle against the impact humans have on planet earth – most of their suffering is because of people not paying attention, not noticing the small and amazing creatures all around us, and how much joy and meaning they bring to this planet.
