Cheryl says that she realized too late in life that she should have been an exotics/wildlife vet, so, to address this particular passion, she pursued wildlife rehabilitation. She has volunteered in domestic rabbit rescue groups for more than 20 years, and bunnies are her favorite species. Bunnies are so incredibly fragile but important to the ecosystem, and, with her expertise in domestic bunnies and a medical background, Cheryl decided to focus on rehabbing cottontail rabbits. She is also gearing up to rehab turtles, another species quickly going extinct in her "neck of the woods". While it is heartbreaking to lose one of these critters, Cheryl says that she is encouraged by the ones who survive to release.
