Karen R.
Karen found a House Finch that had been hit by a car and took it to a rehabber. The next time, she found a Grackle and took it to the SPCA. She asked if they ever needed volunteers and then she started as a wildlife transporter. From there Karen started doing rescues and saw there was a need for more rehabbers. She started by just rehabbing orphaned babies such as opossums and squirrels but now she also helps water fowl, fish eaters and songbirds too. She retired this year as a school teacher. She always brought wildlife education into her classroom and ran the environmental club. Now she plans on spending more time with her husband doing what they love most, bird watching. Sea birds and shore birds are her favorite. Karen is a self proclaimed "Bird Nerd".
