Animals of all kinds have always been a passion of Lauri's. She felt a strong connection and a will to defend the wild at a young age, beginning with the plight of the Spotted Owl in the 80’s -- a hot topic in the logging community she grew up in. Growing up in the Pacific Northwest brought Lauri endless opportunities to observe wildlife, and she began her journey with rehabbing in 2013. Marine mammals were her first -- Sea lions, Elephant seals, and Pacific Harbor seals were some of the patients she had the privilege of helping. She assisted in all aspects of rescue, rehab and release. As the wife of an active duty soldier, Lauri and her family are now stationed in a land locked area so she is branching out and rehabbing small mammals. She explains, "wildlife needs our help, and our voice, and I am dedicated and excited to begin this journey."
