Jenny H.
Jenny began volunteering for a wildlife center in college after the rehabber came to her environmental science club and did an educational presentation. Jenny loved it and began volunteering there every week for several years, helping squirrels, skunks, opossums, rabbits, flying squirrels, hawks, owls, ducks, and songbirds. She did lots of grunt work, cleaning and feeding the animals, interfaced with the public, helped at programs, did office and computer work, and trained new volunteers. The center closed due to lack of funding and it was very sad. Several years ago Jenny volunteered for a woman who ran a small rehab working mostly with squirrels until she had to stop due to funding as well. Jenny volunteered for another local rehab and was surprised when they didn't have many squirrels which are one of her favorites. When Acorn Acres opened in the spring of 2021, she was excited because they specialize in squirrels and take in other species she's familiar with. An incubator will help her with the most fragile babies.
