A couple years ago, Jessica knew that she wanted to do volunteer work with animals. She came across some baby foxes while on a walk who were badly infected with mange, made call after call to animal control to try and get them help, but no one could catch them. That’s when Jessica realized that she needed to do this for herself. And then Covid happened. She was volunteering at a zoo and was laid off because of the pandemic. She was signed up for a rehabilitation class a year ago, and had to cancel because she didn’t think she could learn over zoom. A year later, here she is, signed up again because the world hasn’t changed. She has been volunteering since April in wildlife rehabilitation and says that it has changed her life. As someone who struggles with mental illness, helping these animals has given Jessica the purpose and passion in life that she has been searching for. An incubator will be a huge help to Jessica for the many years of wildlife rehabbing ahead of her!
