Annie P.
Several years ago, Annie found 3 newborn squirrels that fell from a tree on a Saturday afternoon in February. She waited for over 2 hours for Mama to return while anxiously watching with binoculars from far away. Meanwhile, she called two local wildlife rehabbers, but did not receive an answer. It got dark, cold, and rainy. The pinkies turned grey and did not look good. Annie took them inside and set them up in a little nest with a soft sherpa blanket and a heating pad underneath half the container. She gave herself a crash course in squirrel rehabilitation that night and ended up successfully releasing 3 beautiful and healthy squirrels in June of that year. She says it was a blessing that she will never be able to repay. Annie has since become a Wildlife Rehabilitator apprentice and looks forward to baby season every year. An incubator would be immensely helpful in keeping the pinkies more evenly warm and making it easier for her to rehabilitate more babies.
