The Wildlife Ward at VMCVM seeks to stabilize, triage, treat, and transfer injured and orphaned wildlife in the Blacksburg area. As a part of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital, we aspire to grow our wildlife medicine knowledge as well as educate others to foster an appreciation and competency in wildlife medicine in future veterinarians. Due to our location on the Virginia Tech campus, we frequency take calls regarding human-animal conflict such as hit by car, fishing line trauma, cat attacks, and window strikes. An integral part of our mission is to educate the public on coexistence with wildlife in order to decrease the need for veterinary intervention in the future. We are 100% volunteer based, student-led, and subsist solely on grant and scholarship funding.
