My second grade teacher was a licensed wildlife rehabilitator and in the 80s, was able to bring her animals to the classroom. I became very interested in it at that point, and when I was old enough she trained me. I also worked at a veterinary clinic and volunteered at the local humane society, building a skill set that I applied in wildlife rehabilitation. I took a hiatus while we started our family and recertified for my license in 2023. Previously I worked with birds, almost exclusively, but in 2023 I received my first baby squirrel, and now those are my main focus.
