I have always had a passion for animals. I went to college with the plan of becoming a veterinarian, but life lead me down other paths. At age 33 I was diagnosed with Stage 3C breast cancer. After one of my surgeries we were driving down the road when we found an orphaned raccoon. I picked up the orphan who was clearly struggling to stay alive. I contacted all of the rehabbers that were licensed near me. No one could help with this orphaned racoon. We named him Cecil and I started down my path of interning at a wildlife rehab center that day. Two years later I was licensed and opening my own facility. Cancer and Cecil changed my life.
