$240 of $240 raised

Janice first started in wildlife rehab in response to an article in the local newspaper asking for volunteers to help feed baby birds. Since she had experience hand raising parrots as a hobby, she felt she was qualified to help with the songbirds. That was 21 years ago. Occasionally baby opossums would come into the songbird clinic awaiting pickup by the home rehab volunteer that specialized in opossums. Janice fell in love with these adorable babies, so when that volunteer stopped rehabbing, Janice jumped at the opportunity to take over, and she took the necessary training. Baby opossums need specialized care as they do not suckle and need to have a tube passed into their tummies and given formula. Fortunately Janice has a medical background and felt comfortable with the process. For the last 11 years, she has been the lead rehabber rehabbing opossums from infancy to release. She finds it extremely rewarding.
