While working for a veterinarian for 15 years, Jennifer noticed that there wasn't anyone in her area taking care of injured and orphaned wild animals. Knowing she had the land to support safe releases of wildlife, and the experience with animals, she decided to take on the task herself. With the support of her vet and the local sheriff, she won the Erik Orrendoff Wildlife Scholarship and funds to pay for her medical and rehabilitation books. She now cares for deer, raccoons, baby squirrels and rabbits. As a single mom, she has done it all while also teaching her daughters to love and respect wildlife, and support them until they're well enough to be returned to the wild.
