I used to be an EMT/Fire fighter. I love the medical world. I have recently have changed careers, though, and bought a business. We have come across a lot of injured & orphaned wildlife along the way. A lot of these animals have no where to go for rehab in my immediate area of the Southern Adirondacks.
In 2020 while working a job doing tree removal we found an orphaned baby. While taking care of the baby, waiting for a rehab to open a spot, I was following guidance from the state of New York. This animal was up for euthanasia because of the lack of rehabs (& space in these rehabs) and was to take action on this orphaned baby, immediately. This was a life changing event for me and absolutely got me in the heart. It was this moment that providws the idea to build a local rehab, and establish a 501 (c) 3. We now have a location for the rehab, a full board, and are collaborating with some other local wildlife rescues to gain the training and education we need. .
Being brand new we are still establishing the types of animal that will be the most common for the immediate area. The goal is to be very well rounded and to try and help as many species as possible, that our facility and volunteers can handle, as we build.
