Animal advocacy is at the heart of why I got into rehabbing. My wife and I lived in an area with very limited wildlife rescue and rehab resources, and the lack of available care for wildlife was heart-wrenching. I found a small network of wildlife transporters and jumped at the opportunity to help, taking wildlife transport classes and becoming a transporter. After a military transfer, we found ourselves in an area with more wildlife resources and education. We began volunteering with birds of prey, working with owls, hawks, and crows, and learning the essentials of wildlife rehabilitation. We have since gotten our permits to rehabilitate small mammals and birds at our home.
