How will this additional incubator help?
As one of the only fawn rehabilitation centers in Western North Carolina, having incubators on hand is absolutely critical to saving lives. Many of the fawns we care for arrive in extremely fragile condition—often orphaned, hypothermic, dehydrated, or injured.
An incubator provides a controlled environment with consistent warmth and humidity, which is essential for stabilizing their temperature and preventing further stress. Without this life-saving equipment, these delicate babies have a much harder time recovering.
For neonatal fawns and other vulnerable wildlife, warmth isn’t just comforting—it’s a matter of life and death. Their bodies are so small and fragile that they lose heat rapidly, which can lead to shock or organ failure. The incubator mimics the conditions they’d have if they were still with their mothers, giving them the best chance at survival.
Portable incubators are also invaluable for wildlife rescues in the field, allowing us to stabilize animals immediately before bringing them back to the sanctuary for care.
With the growing number of animals needing help, every incubator we add directly increases the lives we can save.
