Joel has been caring for wildlife for about 5 decades, mostly in Maryland. When life took him to West Virginia, a state that doesn't have a formal system for helping wildlife in need, he continued his much needed work. For 5 years, he helped injured and orphaned animals, often including patients brought to him by DNR. In 2005, his work was suddenly deemed criminal. Joel fought for himself and all the animals, refusing to give up. Without any legal assistance, and after 5 difficult years, he won the right to do what he was meant to do - save wildlife in need. He now cares for any animal that needs him. Little do his tiny wards know how hard he fought for the right to save their lives.
