Krista G.
As a teacher, Krista always had some sort of animal -- rabbits, hedgehog, tree frogs, ducks. She shared her love for all animals with her students, but didn't begin rehabbing until she found a newly hatched bird. She could not leave it in the street so she brought it home, set up a warm space and called her local nature center. They guided Krista in rehabbing the sparrow until it was old enough to be put in a pre-release cage. Both the nature center, the rehabber who took in the sparrow, as well as Krista's love for animals made her pursue wildlife rehabbing. She worked with the Ansonia Nature Center to find out all she needed to learn. She also worked with another veteran rehabber who showed her all her tricks to help infant squirrels and cottontails grow strong and healthy. After Krista completed the required 40+ hours, she took the test, had her husband build an indoor cage and an outdoor pre-release cage, and began rehabbing.
