I have always loved animals and being out in nature. My mother was an animal lover. Both my brothers and myself inherited her kindness and compassion for animals. Early in my life I cared for injured and orphaned wildlife and derived so much gratification from releasing them and knowing they would thrive in their natural environment. I am now a New York State licensed rehabilitator being educated to care for neonate and juvenile opossums, squirrels and porcupine. I have had the pleasure of working with and learning from highly experienced wildlife rehabilitators. I have learned how to tube feed neonate opossums, syringe feed squirrels, provide the appropriate housing for various species. I am also learning what each species nutritional needs are from birth to release. I am working toward my RVS (rabies vector species) license which will allow me to rehabilitate raccoons, skunks and bats. Wildlife rehabilitation is demanding, rewarding, and sometimes heartbreaking. I am grateful to be a part of this caring network of volunteers. I am equally grateful to have a husband who supports and shares my passion for all animals. He also does an incredible job of building wildlife enclosures.
