Melissa has always been interested in learning about wildlife. One day she rescued a baby squirrel from a cat's mouth. She called a wildlife rehabilitation organization for help, then looked for more squirrels that evening. Melissa called the rehabber again a few days later, asking questions about the wildlife she saw in the woods looking for more baby squirrels. The rehabber asked Melissa if she would like to volunteer at the facility and she was very happy to accept. Melissa says, "it's very heart-warming to help these creatures get back on their feet because of something us humans did to them and then watch them recover so quickly and be returned to the wild. It's amazing!"
