Melissa H.
Melissa knew she wanted to work with animals from a very young age. Her family was very involved with rescue and fostering and that's when it all began. She was fortunate to acquire an intern position at Rideau Valley Wildlife Sanctuary after her first year at Carleton University. When fall arrived and it was time to go back to school, she knew she would miss working with the animals so much and didn't want to leave. After 5 years with RVWS, Melissa is now training the volunteers and interns, while also studying to become a Veterinarian Technician. She hopes to add to the knowledge she has acquired over the years, share this knowledge with the people she trains, and be in an even better position to diagnose and examine the wildlife patients. An incubator will be a huge help with the tiniest babies in her care.
