Melissa M.

$475 of $475 raised

Melissa grew up in a family that valued wildlife and supported its welfare. She spent her youth hiking and birdwatching and developing a deep appreciation for all things wild. When Melissa was able to retire earlier than anticipated, she moved to a home abutting 23,000 acres of pristine conservation land, perfect for releasing rehabbed animals. She had a friend who rehabbed animals and as Melissa learned more about her work, she realized the time was perfect for her to study, learn and step into the life she had always dreamed about. She took courses, and volunteers at Tufts Wildlife Clinic weekly. After passing the state exam, Melissa converted her walkout basement into a clinic and immediately was offered litters of babies to rehab. She says that this is her life's calling and she is so grateful to follow this dream.
