Mercedes was always a child who found animals in need. As she became older, she decided to learn how to care for them and got her first permit. 30 years later she now cares for hawks, owls, waterfowl, songbirds, deer, small mammals, all rabies vector species, and any other critters who need a helping hand. In addition to caring for many difficult cases and species, her home also serves as a hub where animals are stabilized before transport to a network of other home based rehabbers. Mercedes philosophy is to never turn away an animal in need if she can help.
