Mickey starting caring for squirrels when some of them basically fell into her lap. After her son cut down a dead tree and 3 baby squirrels fell out, Mickey had to learn fast. She now helps between 30 and 40 baby squirrels each season, servicing several counties in northeast Alabama. There's no greater joy for Mickey than seeing squirrels, who she has raised since they were fragile babies, successfully released back into the wild.
