I lived on a ranch many years ago. My neighbor was a wildlife rehabber and asked if I wanted to help him, to learn. He loved nightjars especially. He inspired me. During the pandemic I pivoted to home and I had another chance to resume rehabbing, time to feed babies around the clock. Time to go on rescues. I was so thrilled. I joined a volunteer organization and jumped back in headfirst! Since then I’ve worked with several amazing mentors to further my skills. I fell in love with opossums especially, and relearned the magical art of tubing neonates. I love the polarizing species, the underdogs. Everything deserves a chance.
