Nicoletta C.

$475 of $475 raised

Nicoletta started working as a volunteer at a local wildlife rescue center 12 years ago. She helped with feeding orphaned baby squirrels, cleaning cages and feeding the permanent (injured) residents who could not be released back into the wild. The only opossum she took home to care for was one she found while riding her bike. The baby had been dehydrated, had barely any fur left and was full of parasites. Nicoletta cared for her for 3 months until the baby was ready to return to the wild. She says that it was such a joy to see the baby grow and become the beautiful creature she was meant to be, a healthy opossum. After Nicoletta passed her wildlife rehabilitation test with the state, she started taking in smaller opossums and continued training with the help of a friend. With many years of wildlife rehabilitation ahead of her, an incubator will help Nicoletta save the most fragile babies.
