Anyone who knows me knows I'm an animal advocate! I particularly love bunnies and squirrels! I love their energy, their unique personalities, and their acrobatics. I have a sanctuary area in which I have been feeding wild squirrels for years. In my efforts to learn more about my wild visitors so I could better provide support for them, I started "following" and reaching out to several licensed rehabbers. Since my 3 children are now grown, and with more time to commit to helping animals in need, I volunteered with a licensed rehabber to help her build pre-release enclosures; she introduced me to the world of rehab. Subsequently I continued to research and read and decided to reach out to a rehabber in my area about getting involved. She replied that she'd "love to teach [me] about squirrels!" That was all it took! Animals have always owned a piece of my heart and soul. It just comes naturally to me to want to do more to help! Everyone has some type of calling for their life; helping God's vulnerable creatures seems to be mine. I'm eager to embark on this newest chapter to help wilds in my care to not only survive, but thrive!
