I started out as a volunteer in the nursery at our center during the height of Covid, feeding babies. Because of my medical background and skills with baby animals, my love for opossums, I became a sub permittee. I first only cared for opossums (because they’re my favorite), but have now also cared for bunnies, squirrels (, groundhogs, and most recently skunks… all from my home. I’m now the Volunteer Coordinator for the facility, but still foster during busy season. An incubator will help those sick, injured, and orphaned babies that I care for each year heal quicker.
