After helping an injured opossum on the side of the road, Sandra took him to a wildlife hospital. Once she realized they had a volunteer program, she took a weekly shift and has been volunteering for 10 years. She became active in her state's wildlife rehabilitation group and currently sits on the advisory board. She attended educational conferences to network and learn as much as possible, then decided to obtain permit of her own. Like most volunteers, she pays for all of her wildlife care expenses out of pocket. An incubator will help Sandra save the most fragile babies.
