Sheri R.
Sheri has always loved animals and was always bringing them home as a child. She has had cats and dogs all of her life and when she retired, she started volunteering to help wildlife. She began in a sea turtle rescue and loved being involved in saving the lives of such wonderful beings. Next, she became a volunteer at the wildlife center at her local park system, Stark Parks in Ohio, in 2011. The first time Sheri held a baby squirrel and fed it, she knew that she had found the very thing that she was supposed to be doing with her life. After a year of volunteering, she began fostering baby squirrels in her home, giving all of her spare time to their care. As the years have gone by, she has increased her knowledge of squirrel care and has accumulated various size cages, syringes, blankets, nipples, and other items for fostering. She is not reimbursed for the money she spends but, she says, this is a labor of love more than anything else. She started making soap in her kitchen with natural oils to help pay for some of the squirrel costs. She sells the soap at farmers markets, craft shows, and on her Facebook page. The name of her company is Sleepy Squirrel Farm. Sheri is dedicated to doing whatever it takes to save the animals in her care as well as educating the public about wildlife.
