I am a 22 year Navy Veteran that is disabled and I retired September 2020. The first 10 years of my military career, I was a Meteorologist/Oceanographer and the next 12 years I was a Navy Recruiter. Once I retired, I wanted to do something that I was passionate about and that is how I got involved with rehabbing. It started with my love for opossums. I had discovered a hit by car mom that was deceased 3 years ago but she still had joeys alive in her pouch. I had rescued them but I couldn’t find a rehabber to take them to, so after that I started researching how to save opossums and I became hooked on learning everything about them. I volunteered for Sandspur Sanctuary and I was shown the ropes. I attended the Florida Wildlife Rehabbers Association Symposium February 2022 and learned so much about all mammal and bird species.
