Susan H.
Animals have been a huge part of Susan's life for as long as she can remember. Five years ago, her daughter started as an intern at Rideau Valley Wildlife Sanctuary. One day she called Susan and asked if she would like to help out as they had just received an influx of patients and didn't have enough help. Susan's first experience with wild animals was feeding a baby skunk. She says that it felt so surreal to have this little helpless life in her hands, and from that day forward, she was all in. She loves giving a chance to these animals that are often regarded as a nuisance in urban areas. Susan has found that the most rewarding part of rehabbing is releasing these healthy animals in a safe environment knowing that she made a difference. She loves doing her part to help educate the public on how to preserve our wildlife for future generations, and learn to enjoy and help them however we can.
